Women from both countries "accompanied soldiers to war, sometimes in official capacity but often by their own choice". The also served as cooks, laundresses, nurses, or maids, these females were usually referred to simply as “camp followers”. Which means that they would make the things that the men need for the war, and they need it to stay alive, they also needed it to prepare for the war.
